What I enjoyed most at Banksia Park International High School was the excursion camp with the Outdoor Education class. I had the opportunity to try new experiences and at the same time create better relationship with my friend. However, it was a really good way to explore new places and activities in Australia. I was surprised about the variety of subjects at the school, which allows the students to specialise in the subjects they prefer. And participating in Clubs, which helped to create new friendships.
Teachers were very helpful, really understanding and available to answer all my questions.
What I enjoyed most at Banksia Park International High School was the variety of practical lessons which I have never learned in Japan: Photography, Café Skills, Design, Society & Culture. In my home country, I can learn just academic things.
Teachers were very caring and helpful. Although Japanese names can be difficult to pronounce for most, everyone tried to utter correctly and memorised my name and face.
Harmony Week is celebration held annually in March across Australia. It’s aimed at promoting diversity, respect and inclusiveness. This event is an excellent opportunity for parents to teach their children about different cultures, traditions and customs. The goal is to encourage everyone to appreciate and celebrate differences and promote a sense of community and belonging for everyone.
During Harmony Week, there are a number of events and activities held to bring people from different cultures together. These activities include multicultural food festivals, cultural performances, art exhibitions and workshops. Participating in these events helps children to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diverse communities that make up Australia.
As a parent, you can engage your children in discussions about multiculturalism and encouraging them to ask questions. Promoting a more harmonious and inclusive society, can help children grow up with a greater appreciation for the richness and diversity of Australia's cultural landscape.
This Special Report hopes to instil positive values and create an opportunity to start a conversation with your child about understanding diversity and multiculturalism.

Year 11 Leaders in Action Fundraising Extravaganza
Our Year 11 Leaders in Action students are running a series of fundraising events this term in support of Shoe Boxes of Love, a charity that provides essential care items to people affected by disasters.

In 2025, our wellbeing team invited staff and students to participate in forums to imagine what a wellbeing mural could look like. Together, the community shared ideas about a design that would represent the many elements of our school while weaving in themes of connection, belonging and wellbeing.
Local artist and current Arts Leader Dane Louis brought these ideas to life, transforming the feedback into a vibrant mural that celebrates the spirit of our community. At its heart sits the sunflower and the words “Be the Change,” a message that holds special meaning within our school and reminds us of the impact each person can have.
Named “Bee Kind,” the mural reflects both kindness and collective responsibility. Painted in stages, it became a true community project, with the support of many contributors from within and beyond the school.

Our two Year 12 Outdoor Ed classes have been working hard learning about and connecting with the people, history, and environment at Anstey Hill Recreation Park 🌿
We were lucky to hear from Mr Jon Hall, a fifth-generation member of the family who founded and built the original Newman’s Nursery within Anstey Hill Recreation Park 🌳.

The Year 12s have officially kicked off their “fun” events for the year today… and let’s just say backpacks were clearly overrated.
For Anything But a Bag Day, creativity was in full swing across the school. We spotted books being carried in a wheelbarrow, animal cages, eskies, lawnmowers, laundry baskets, and even a giant LEGO head! There were also bins, tubs and a few contraptions that probably require an engineering degree to explain.
