What I enjoyed most at Banksia Park International High School were the music lessons. In Japan we don’t have music ensemble. It was new for me to play music with students in the music class.
I also enjoyed the excursion to the city with other international students.
All experiences with homestay and school will be memorable to me. Everything in Australia was new for me. I love this country and this school.

What I enjoyed most at Banksia Park International High School was the excursion camp with the Outdoor Education class. I had the opportunity to try new experiences and at the same time create better relationship with my friend. However, it was a really good way to explore new places and activities in Australia. I was surprised about the variety of subjects at the school, which allows the students to specialise in the subjects they prefer. And participating in Clubs, which helped to create new friendships.
Teachers were very helpful, really understanding and available to answer all my questions.
What I enjoyed most at Banksia Park International High School was the variety of practical lessons which I have never learned in Japan: Photography, Café Skills, Design, Society & Culture. In my home country, I can learn just academic things.
Teachers were very caring and helpful. Although Japanese names can be difficult to pronounce for most, everyone tried to utter correctly and memorised my name and face.

A SPECIAL REPORT: Celebrating Harmony Week 🌏🎉
Harmony Week is a celebration held annually in March across Australia. It’s aimed at promoting diversity, respect, and inclusiveness. This event is an excellent opportunity for parents to teach their children about different cultures, traditions, and customs. The goal is to encourage everyone to appreciate and celebrate differences and promote a sense of community and belonging for everyone.
During Harmony Week, BPIHS is providing a range of activities to bring people from different cultures together and promote the theme that “everyone belongs” 🤝. Participating in these events helps children to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diverse communities that surround them.
As a parent, you can engage your children in discussions about multiculturalism and encourage them to ask questions. Promoting a more harmonious and inclusive society can help children grow up with a greater appreciation for the richness and diversity of Australia's cultural landscape.
This Special Report hopes to instil positive values and create an opportunity to start a conversation with your child about understanding diversity and multiculturalism 🌟.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this Special Report, and as always, we welcome your feedback 📩.
If you do have any concerns about the well-being of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.

🏄♀️ Last week, Stage 2 Outdoor Education students had an amazing time at their surfing camp on the South Coast! They kicked off with a surf safety session at Horseshoe Bay and then conquered the bigger waves at Middleton Beach. 🌊
☀️ To start each day right, we were lucky to have student-led yoga sessions on the beach. 🧘♂️
🌿 The adventure didn't stop there! Students also explored a local wetland area with Second Nature, learning about sustainability and native flora and fauna.#outdooreducationat#handsonlearningr#BPIHSbpihs ... See MoreSee Less

NAPLAN is nearly here (13-25 March)!
The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests students' ability in numeracy and three domains of literacy - reading, writing and conventions of language. This information can help guide school improvement processes by identify areas of strength and development. This is the first year NAPLAN will be held in March, having previously taken place in May. This change was made so school systems would have access to results earlier in the school year, so they can be used to inform teaching and learning plans for the remainder of the year.
Some students breeze through the whole process, it is just another test they take and then they get on with their day. For some students, NAPLAN can bring considerable stress and anxiety. Staff at BPIHS have been supporting students over the last few weeks to build familiarity and confidence. There has been a focus on the school values to persevere and be a united representation of our knowledgeable and ambitious learners.
The best thing you can do as a parent or carer, is to ensure your children are well prepared and make sure that they have lots of positive wellbeing strategies to use. Encourage your child to be the best version of themselves through conversations about positive attitudes and a healthy confidence towards tests.
